Baked Valentine Treats For Loved Ones

I love to bake, especially for a holiday. My kids look forward to the different Valentine treats I bake for them every year. The cookies above, Linzer Cookies with Cherry Jam filling are my favorites. I use a miniature heart cookie-cutter on the marshmallows!

Above is the traditional Valentine's Day breakfast I make for the kids every year, thanks to a heart shaped cookie-cutter. I even use it to make them heart shaped sandwiches for their lunch that day!

I use my mini muffin pan to make these Mini Devils Food Cup Cakes. A little white frosting (gotta love those cans of frosting!) and a miniature heart cookie cutter for the chocolate hearts on top and that's it; so easy! I've never made these decadent Mini Chocolate Cake Hearts with Chocolate Sauce, but plan on making them this year. Happy Baking Everyone!!

"Theme Thursday"

Today, over at Southern Whimsy, KD is hosting "Themed Thurday". Today's theme is blue transferware and being that my kitchen is all blue and white, I thought I'd display some of my blue plates! Above is a photo of my blue amd white plates displayed on my wainscott walls This is my collection of my sweet little floral blue and white cups and saucers This blue and white pitcher is also part of the collection Just a view of the blue and white theme going into my foyer

Beautiful Slipcovers!

I adore anything with a shabby chic look or a fresh, clean cottage look. I'm thinking about having my dining room chairs and living room couch done over in slipcovers. There's a very talented, local designer here in the D.C. area who designs slipcovers, window treatments, etc. and here are some photo's of her work. Her name is Carrie Raphael, and I think she is just amazing!

I thought this would look so sweet in a kitchen or little girl's bedroom

She made both the couch slipcover and the simple, fresh white window treatments. Having all boys, I don't know if white would be such a great color, but I think it looks just beautiful!

Serendipity 3 is an ice cream parlor in New York City that is the home of the original Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. Locals, celebrities and tourists pack this place just to be able to indulge in this Divine, delectable, chocolaty, sinfully delicious mouthwatering marvel!
While aimlessly wandering through my favorite store, Williams-Sonoma (my 2nd home), I spot an adorable canister that says Serendipity's Frozen Hot Chocolate Mix.......After my heart palpitations subsided, I got myself together and asked the store manager if this was the REAL THING??? IT WAS/IT IS/NO MORE NEW YORK CITY!!! If you are a true chocolate lover and own a blender, RUN to Williams-Sonoma and purchase this heavenly dessert; it will be the best $16.00 you ever spend!!!!!!!!!

So Very Greatful!

Due to my Mom's recent surgery, I've been out of commission for awhile. I'm so happy to say that she is feeling good and recovering nicely! I'd also like to send out a BIG HEART-FELT THANK YOU to everyone of you who left such sweet and meaningful messages of hope and prayers for my Mom & for me; you will never know how much they meant to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart :)

Sweet Valentine Gift Idea for Children

I just love giving and receiving anything that is personalized, especially for my kids. I thought these placks with the inscription "I Love You More Than....." for either a boy or a girl, would be just perfect to personalize and give to them for Valentine's Day! How sweet would they look hanging on your child's wall!

Golden Globe Disasters!

We are now deep into the Awards Season, right up until the Academy Awards. To be honest, I mainly watch them just to see who's wearing what. When I first saw Cameron Diaz, I only saw her from the waist up. Her dress, a pink bubble gum color, appeared to be somewhat pretty........until they panned all the way down and I saw the entire dress!! Ugh?! What happened? Somewhere, this dress went wrong. I wouldn't put her on the Worst Dressed List, but aside from the color, I hated it!! Any opinions?????
Dear God! What were you thinking Renee??!!!!! I think she was more attractive as "Bridget Jones"!

Isn't She Lovely!

I think it's so rare when you meet people that are giving, kind, selfless and just plain "Lovely", inside and out. I feel that Mrs. Stilettos exemplifies all of those characteristics, being that she has so graciously formed her own "welcoming committee" to all new bloggers and has offered all kinds of wonderful advice to anyone and everyone who asks, e-mails people personally with all her answers, and just genuinely cares. Newlywed Stilettos is simply a lovely blog :)

A Soo Cute Ruffled Coat (that's Not Pink!)

"Mr Honey" and the boys gave me a gift card for Christmas in hopes that I would buy myself some new clothes that were not pink!!!! I think this ruffled, navy jacket is just adorable and was wondering if anyone might know where I could find one like this?? Thanks :)

My Ideal PINK Bedroom!!

Living with 3 boys and 1 "Mr. Honey", I'm constantly outnumbered. I try to make our home as cozy, warm and inviting as possible, with a girly touch! "Mr. Honey" will only compromise so much..... If I could decorate the bedroom however I wanted, these photo's are exactly what I'd pick. The PINK FRIDGE (shown above) would be in our room, constantly stocked with all my favorite goodies and I wouldn't have to leave the room!

I'd have that PINK FLORAL COUCH so my girlfriends could come over and and just lounge while I'm lounging in my bed! We'd have the PINK FRIDGE right there in the room, stocked with all of our favorite "guilty pleasures" and our cold pitcher of Mojitos. The white wicker table would always have FRESH PINK FLOWERS.

This ideal bedroom wouldn't be complete without this perfect PINK PRINCESS BED,PINK DRESSER, PINK, SATIN 600 COUNT SHEETS, PINK FLORAL PILLOWS, and a LAMP WITH A SWEET PINK SHADE! Like I aways say, "A girl can always dream............"(dream in pink!!)

Spending a quiet afternnon in my favorite book store with a warm gingerbread latte, is one of my guilty pleasures........."Mr. Honey" is in charge of the boys and I have a few, rare and sacred hours to myself to browse all the amazing new "Must Reads" of 2009. This book was looking me dead in the eye when I walked in, and as much as I tried to ignore it and go straight for the Candace Bushnell novels, I decided to just page through it, real fast...... After looking at all the different caloric contents of some of my favorite foods at some of my favorite fast food dives, I decided it was definately a MUST READ! See Below........

"Eat This Not That". Here are some of the VERY INTERESTING FACTS (that might surprise you!!)

  • A Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut has 130 fewer calories than one from Dunkin Donuts!
  • Subway Turkey sub has 510 fewer calories than Panera' version!
  • At Chipoltle, cut 498 calories by ordering the Chicken Burritto as a "bowl", without the tortilla!
  • At Chick-Fil-A, not a single sandwich tops 500 calories!
  • A McDonald's Big Mac saves you 220 calories and 18 grams of fat over Burger King's Whopper w/cheese, which has 47 grams of fat!!
  • White Chocolate can cause depression while Dark Chocolate can cure it!!

These are only a few of the hundreds of food swaps that can save us all LOTS OF UNWANTED POUNDS! It's like a weight loss coach in your pocket!

"Mr Honey" said he "drew the line" at a pink refrigerator.......... Would a fabulous, shiny, retro PINK STOVE be pushing it???????? I'M SOOOO IN LOVE!!!!!

I read about this book in "O Magazine", heard rave reviews about it, and read it in 1 day. Trust me, you will NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN. I can't think of a better way to start off 2009!

I sure hope everyone had a wonderful, festive and safe New Year's Eve! I've taken a little break from blogging while my Mom has been sick. A great, therapeutic distraction has been reading all those incredible blogs out there!
I used to just limit myself to the "interior design" blogs, but have discovered soooo many other amazing blogs; the sweet "Newlywed" blogs with the gorgeous young brides venturing out into their new marriage journey, the "Mom" blogs that make me laugh and provide me with all kinds of pointers on raising kids, the "Crafting" blogs that have actually taught me how to make some of the new pink Christmas ornaments on my tree this year, etc., etc.....
On a lighter note, here are my 3 favorite Pink presents "Mr. Honey" so sweetly gave me for Christmas:
Don't know how I ever lived without this!

For the "Pink Domestic Goddess"....

And my very favorite! I wore this out on New Year's Eve. Thanks J.Crew!
