"MaryLou"/"Mom"/"Sugar"

Hi Girls, due to my Mom's doctor's serious concerns, she's going for a biopsy today. She's been putting this off for quite a long time now, but with some prompting from my Dad, my sister and myself, she made the appointment and went. She's our very best friend, a phenomenal Mother, Grandmother "Sugar" to our kids, a wife of 46 years to my Dad, and WE ALL WANT HER AROUND FOR A LONG, LONG, TIME. Results will be back in 7-10 days, and then we go from there!! Please keep her in your prayers as I would sooooo appreciate it :) Thanks a bunch. Warmly, Karen

A Beautiful Dream......

I obviously have insomnia as it's 1:32 am and instead of being in "dreamland" I'm still in "blog land"....Just excited to see my Patrick tomorrow. Anyway, the Money Tree that grows (NOT) in our backyard is presently BARE, but if it had LOTS of money growing on it, I would buy myself this lovely chocolate brown ensemble and wear it proudly to my son's play! Like I ALWAYS say, a girl can always dream.................................... Good Night. Mocha Cream by FabFashion

Off To College!

I'm leaving tomorrow morning (Oh, it is tomorrow) to go see my sweet son Patrick's first college play! He is a freshman in college and will be performing in Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" at his college's beautiful, new Performing Arts Center. I'm both EXCITED AND NERVOUS for him but I'm incredibly proud of him for his bravery in taking on Shakespeare!! For those of you familiar with the Disney production of "High School Musical", Patrick had the lead role of Troy last year, his senior year of high school. He's incredibly gifted and talented but this is a whole new terrain for him. His 2 little brothers, Mr. Honey and myself miss him terribly and can't wait to see "our STAR".
Have a wonderful weekend gals!!

A Pink Door?

I'm always thinking ahead, so I've decided that when Spring arrives, I want to paint the house gray and the front door pink! Right now, the exterior of my house is pale yellow with white shutters and a pale blue door (very "cottage-like") If the shade of pink is somewhat muted, against a darker shade (gray), it can look quite lovely. Last spring I had Mr Honey hang adorable white flower boxes in front of all the windows and I swear the house looked like a little cottage you'd see on Nantucket. I want to maintain that New England cottage look, but can't do it all by myself. I think I'll wait to spring it on Mr Honey after Christmas...........I have too many things I need him to hang, set up, take down, screw in, put away before I have 25 of my closest friends over for the Christmas Cookie Swap!

Shabby Chic Living

This living room is a perfect example of what I eventually want my family room to look like. I will be posting pictures soon of what it looks like now and would welcome any suggestions from those out there in Shabby Chic Land! I love the slip covered, cozy chair and the chandelier that gives a vintage look. I added a picture of an adorable little pink ornament tree that I will be adding to my mantel this Christmas.
I also want to give a shout out to Shabby Rose Cottage, where they are now offering "Design Services"; you simply post your email address and they will contact you, along with sending notifications on sales, new products, advice, etc. Their products are absolutely lovely and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Have a Great Day!!
Off to church and then I'll be a bakin fool all day. Have a wonderful, relaxing Sunday everybody!!

Lovin Me a Pink Couch!!!!

I saw this UNBELIEVABLY PRECIOUS pink couch through a store window yesterday; yes, it stopped me dead in my tracks!!! Ater trying to catch my breath, I had to sit down on the curb so my knee's wouldn't give out. I finally was able to get my composure back. After coming back down to earth, I came to my senses and realized "Mr Honey" would................... Well, I don't even want to think about what "Mr. Honey" would do if he came home to our "girly" haven and saw this devine, breathtaking, exquisite, feminine, amazing, intoxicating, seductive, heart-stopping PINK SOFA........

Like I've said before, a girl can always dream............................

I CAN'T WAIT MOM!!!!!

Never will you meet a bigger James Bond fan then my little Jack. He is only 9 years old, but can quote scenes from all of the past 007 movies, and can even imitate the accents of Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig! He has been waiting FOREVER,as he says, for this latest, Quantum of Solace, to come out. Yes, I know there are scenes that are not appropriate for little eyes and ears, but I have now mastered how to strategically visit the popcorn/candy counter with him during these "grown-up" scenes....His once "Bob the Builder" themed bedroom, is now a shrine to Mr. Bond. He loves to take ANY visitor we may have to our home, up to see this "shrine" and treats them all to a very large display of James Bond memorabilia that he is quite proud of. Tonight is my "date" with Jack and just seeing the excitement in his big brown eyes while watching James Bond "do his thing" on the big screen, makes it all worth it!!

Planning My First Christmas Cookie Exchange

Don't know what got into me the other day, but I decided to be brave and host my very first Christmas Cookie Exchange Party with 25 girls!! I remember my Mom always hosting them when I was a little girl, and having millions of different, beautifully decorated, yummy cookies around our house for weeks afterward;our house was "Cookie Central"!! I've decided to try and start a new holiday tradition and if successful, like all my Mom's were, our house will now be "Cookie Central" Haven't told "Mr. Honey" yet, but I'm thinking of asking him to be the official "cookie judge" (I will give prizes to the best, most creative, etc.)and maybe in doing so, he'll be a little more understanding of having his home being taken over by a lot of loud, fun gals; I plan on offering a "spiked" cider to add to the festive mood! If anyone has any suggestions for me in the planning of this "endeavor", I would welcome all comments!! Warmly, Nantucket Karen

All I Want For Christmas!

Mr. Honey re-did our kitchen himself a few years ago and I am thrilled with the results; it has soft, buttery yellow walls, beautiful white cabinets with glass windows, lovely white built-ins, and white appliances........Yes, I only wanted white, not black, not stainless steel, just white....................UNTIL I SAW THIS PINK REFRIGERATOR & PINK STOVE!! Can you say "Love at first Sight/Come to Mama!!!" Besides the fact that 99% of our house exudes "Laura Ashley", I know Mr. Honey would draw the line at a BEAUTIFUL PINK REFRIGERATOR & SWEET PINK STOVE. I suppose a girl can always dream.............

A WONDERFUL GIVEAWAY!!!!

I'm so excited! Just found out the "Lovely Lauren" over at Adventures of A Southern Newlywed is hosting a fabulous give-a-way; The Keurig Platinum Coffee Maker!!!! I've wanted one of these for what seems live forever; Visit her blog and Good Luck! Take Care,

Venturing into the World of Blogging!!

This is my very first post and after reading and following so many incredible blogs for quite some time now, I decided to jump in! I must say, I'm petrified, yet excited about this whole "blogging journey". I'm absolutely OVERWHELMED at the immensely TALENTED and GIFTED writers out there; everyday I feel like I've learned and benefited from these AMAZING WOMEN and like a good book, I loose myself for a little while each day, in their world. I find I really route for these gals, I feel their sadness and frustration when life has thrown them a "curve ball", I'm overjoyed for them when they get engaged or have a new baby, giddy when I learn a new recipe, mesmerized at the different decorating styles of their homes and dorm rooms, and just a feeling of sheer peace, knowing they're there, everyday, telling me about just that, their new day! Me and my husband, "Mr. Honey" as I sometimes refer to him, just sent our oldest son, Patrick, off to college. As hard as I thought it was going to be, it was 10 TIMES HARDER!!(that's another blog!) I've always loved to write, so I'm thinking this blog, "my new baby", we be somewhat therapeutic for me. I hope you all will BARE WITH ME as I will be trying to figure out all this blogging stuff as I go!! I even found this wonderful gal to do a new template for me, and I'm really psyched to eventually put it up.
Until my next post, take care! Warmly, Nantucket Karen
